Introducing… the World’s First Portable Reflux Moonshine Still – R3FLUX Artisan

Portable Moonshine Still - 2.0

Portable Moonshine Still – 2.0″ Tri-clamp modular reflux still – Fits on Keg or Pot
R3FLUX Artisan – Why this project?
Our project aims to make craft distilling affordable and portable. Traditionally, distilling equipment at water plants or at distilleries fill whole rooms. The equipment is massive and costs tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Traditional column reflux stills are very large and cannot be transported with damaging them. This has been a major barrier to entry into craft distilling

Traditional column reflux stills are very large and cannot be transported with damaging them. This has been a major barrier to entry into craft distilling
Our solution was to design a fully modular still that could distill fit in a briefcase and be assembled within minutes. The 2.0 inch diameter columns fit on kettles and even beer kegs!   The R3FLUX Artisan is in no way targeted for the industrial market, but it can still distill over 2 gallons of up to 140 proof per hour.

Another bonus of the Artisan's modular column design, it is it easy to maintain and easy to clean.

The columns, tubes, and tri-clamps are made from high quality steel and copper.
The modular still parts can safely be transported and stored in a foam lined hard case. We are still finalizing the design of the case, but it should be similar to this:

Your Artisan still will come in a hard case with foam cutouts for parts

What can I distill with the R3FLUX Artisan?
  • Herbal Essential Oil Extraction
  • E85 fuel ethanol
  • Perfumes
  • Recycling Alcohol
  • Moonshine, Vodka, Rum, Brandy, Schnapps, Gin, Whisky and Tequila
Examples of the types of products this can make:
Essential Oils:

While many essential oils have been synthesized, there may be nothing quite like the natural oils, depending on your purpose for them. To scent perfume or other beauty products, synthetics will do nicely, however for cooking, healthcare, or true aromatherapy, the best results come from natural essential oils. And if you’re using essential oils often and want the best, there’s nothing like making them yourself.

Spirits:

There are many distilled spirits available today, though there are just six base liquors that form the foundation of the majority of cocktails and liqueurs. Brandy, gin, rum, tequila, vodka, and whiskey are each unique and have distinct styles within themselves.

Ethanol E85:

E85 (or flex fuel) is a term that refers to high-level ethanol-gasoline blends containing 51% to 83% ethanol, depending on geography and season (see Fuel Properties and E85 Flex Fuel Specification). It can be used in flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs), which are available from domestic and foreign automakers. Ethanol can also be used for gas lamps and as preservatives.

Artisan Project Story
  • In fall 2016, Scottish engineer Calum, designs the stills as he is into spirits and owns a vehicle that uses E85. He gets busy with his work designing rocket satellites and lighting gear.
  • Raven receives the technical drawings and registers domain in Fall 2016.  Domain expires after a year and project was put on the side, but never forgotten.
  • Coronavirus hits and everyone is quarantined and bored at home. With no disinfectant in the supermarkets, former colleague Troy, who knew about the Artisan, says, “Hey, why don’t we launch Artisan now?”
  • R3FLUX Team aggressively tests and improves the initial prototype’s design, launching this campaign, website & support forums.
  • We plan on ramping up production and having the Artisan ready to ship June 2020.
